A friend and I recently had a debate about the importance of voting. His position is that voting does not yield results that affect society and that most political leaders are innately corrupt; therefore, when we elect them we are likely putting people in office who will make bad decisions. That's logical, right? Absolutely not! That's like saying good people are not capable of making bad decisions and vis versa. His thinking is illogical, but the underlying concern can not be ignored. Like many others he feels that his vote wouldn't count, that his voice would be muted in the tangled web of politics.
I established this blog to refute the notion that voting doesn't matter. Over the next week I will list the reasons I believe voting is mandatory.
